Foundation Show 2021

The entire Foundation Show is available to view in a virtual gallery space.

The work began as a love letter to chairs. I wanted to paint them how people are painted, portraits of these functional objects looking beautiful. As the project continued, the definition of ‘chair’ began to break down into a couple of key materials. The function was simple; could you sit on it? Most of the time, absolutely.

These sculptures were paintings with or as chairs. They could be displayed on a wall, leant against it, or completely flat on the floor.
